A Day in the Life
A Homemade Valentine for My Love
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, EVERYONE!!! Even though everyone makes a big deal out of it being a romantic, Ineedaboyfriendorgirlfriendtoenjoyit, day I've always thought of it as kind of a day to celebrate with anyone. It's never been a hated day in my eyes, I mean, I get candy from my step-dad, my mom tells me she loves me (she does that all the time, but it's a "HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY, I LOVE YOU thing) it's just a good day to either spend it with family or a significant other. Maybe I'm the only one that looks at it that way, but I guess my parents never made me feel like it was a day that HAD to be spent with a boyfriend, heck, before I had boyfriends they would take me and my step-sister out to dinner with them. So, YEAH, moral of this story is - you don't need to blacklist this day just because you don't get taken out to a fancy dinner with a girlfriend or boyfriend, your family can help make the day just as happy :).
ANYWAY, last month I tried to make my own stamps, I was very happy with the results! I know I just got done saying how YOU DON'T NEED NO MAN, but I do have one and he does make me very happy, so my motivation to learn how to make stamps was because I wanted to create something for him FOR Valentine's day. I practiced making a bumble bee (which I will show you step-by-step) and then I moved on to making his special little gift. BUT first I will show you the bee :D.
Step one was to draw on a piece of paper:
Step two was to rub the paper on to the gum (not chewing gum, sculpting gum :P) and then darken it with a sharpie:
Step three was to start carving!:
And then it's time to stamp!
Time to test it out :D
So that whole process was a trial run to see if I could make something special for my boyfriend, Shawn. I messed up the first time and had to restart, but I'm REALLY happy with how it turned out and I cannot wait to give it to him. The design is really simple, but it's right to the point and special, because the last time we went hiking through Patapsco State Park he wanted to carve our initials into a tree, I thought this was the next best thing :) He is driving over as I write, so this blog won't give it away at all :).
Super cheesy, but I don't care :P
Happy Valentine's Day, all.
And I love you, Shawn <3
