Love You to Infinity

Anniversary Galaxy Styled Shoot

This is something you won't see too often. Two photographer's acting as models for each other during the same shoot. Even more fun is that our husbands modeled with us! Let me set the scene for you. April 2017, Yayoi Kusama's Infinity Mirrors exhibit opens at the Hirshhorn in Washington, D.C. Tickets are sold out within minutes and the lines to enter literally wrap around the building. But by sheer luck, on two totally different days, Marlayna and I both get the chance to experience the exhibit with our husbands. It's after our separate visits that we both have the same thoughts of how magical it was to be in the spaces with our spouses getting lost in the idea of infinity.  To say that the exhibit is inspirational is: 1. obvious; and 2. a total understatement. It was soon after my visit that we both started talking about the idea of an anniversary type styled shoot. One that would allow Shawn and me to model for Marlayna, and for Marlayna and Adam to model for me. It felt like a big task at the time, so we let it sit.  That shoot sat in our brains with a random Pinterest board hanging in the balance for 320 days before we officially jumped into planning. When we got the ball rolling, we were 100% invested. We went all in with our DIYing mastery. Creating plates, hand dyeing table runners, staining a table, along with so much...

I Love the 80's with Celebrations at the Bay DIY Wedding

Leise & Chris

Oooookay, people, are you ready for this?! We've seen DIY weddings and we've heard the 80's music, but very rarely do the two join forces. That is, until Leise and Chris's wedding at Celebrations at the Bay. Where the bay, 80's neon, and Journey culminated into a really wonderful ceremony and reception.  Leise and Chris went above and beyond to treat their guests to a fabulous day. They both worked on so many DIY elements to make the wedding really theirs. A lot of times, we think "do it yourself" is to save on costs, but in reality, it's because stores don't specialize to our brains. Making exactly what we want is sometimes easier and makes the day an even bigger treasure. Leise put together so many large scale items such as the centerpieces, the welcome canvas, the photobooth, and their love story sign! Outside of the DIY, there was also the special favors that were brought from the Phillippines all the way to Pasadena, Maryland. Leise's parents carefully traveled with tons of mini guitars made out of seashells that were so unbelievably beautiful. They even thought of us, and gave us our own mini wooden guitars. It was sweet and unexpected! I may or may not have teared up when I opened the gift <3. Speaking of tears, the surprise that Leise got for Chris during the ceremony was COMPLETELY amazing! Leise wrote to me about two weeks that she had arranged for two singers...

Throwback to Christmas at Pine Valley Farms

Kaitlin, Ben, & McQueen

I feel like I've been hoarding so many great sessions! In November, we met up at Pine Valley Farms with Kaitlin, Ben, and the newest cutie to their family, McQueen (Mac). You may remember Kaitlin and Ben from their fabulous Dye House wedding, and if you're a big Instagram animal lover, you probably know Mac too. I've been needing to snuggle Mac since the first time I saw a photo of him. He's so stinkin' cute! So when Kaitlin and Ben messaged me about a Christmas shoot, I was immediately on board. Pine Valley Farms in Sykesville is absolutely perfect. That's actually a total understatement because it's beyond perfection. There are trees as far as the eye can see, and it's such a picturesque location. It's also SUPER difficult to find a Christmas tree farm in Maryland that allows dogs, which makes Pine Valley Farms even more fabulous!  Right off the bat, these three came ready for fun. Mac was full of energy, which is no surprise since he's still a puppy :P. He was hopping and leaping all over his parents, who are well versed in his energetic ways. We could not stop laughing the entire shoot. It was legit difficult to leave because every time we hangout with these two (now three) it feels like catching up with old friends. It's so great anytime we get to hangout because, for one, puppy love and good conversation; and number two, home made cookies. These two are so sweet...

Rainy and Beautiful Maternity Session in Washington DC

Luz & Derrick

Ohh, do I have something beautiful to share today! I'm already adding Luz and Derrick's Washington, DC session to the list of favorites. I know it's early, but it's completely necessary. Not only did these two brave drizzly weather, but they did it all in fancy attire. They didn't let the crowd, the rain, or the many steps deter them from being super models. Trying to find the words to sum up this session is really, really difficult. I never thought that when Luz sent me an Instagram message back in January that all of this wonderfulness would come from it. I mean, when the conversation first starts, it's just two people getting to know one another. It isn't until the location is picked and the welcome hugs are dished out that you get an idea that something great is on it's way. Seeing Luz and Derrick fully embrace the chilly weather was the first check in the "this is gonna be awesome" category :P.  Meeting up with these two was a total day maker. They are incredibly lovely, friendly, up for anything. The moments of them two being close, cradling baby bump, and giggling at one another completely melted my heart. Luz and Derrick are the type of couple that, once you see them, you immediately want to cuddle close to your own partner. They have the power to make people happy and full of joy. I am so ridiculously glad that we got to meet these...

Snuggle Up with This Centennial Park Winter Engagement

Caitlin & Sean

Throwing it back to December with Caitlin and Sean's engagement session! Meeting up with these two was such a treat. They chose Centennial Park, which I have a history of loving. From their drives in Ellicott City and enjoyment of the water, it was an easy pick for them. If you haven't been to the park, plan a visit right now! The lake at the park is at the center of everything, with good reason! If you visit in the Spring/Summer you can rent kayaks and paddle boats. It's pretty cool! Needless to say, I was stoked that they chose Centennial Park.  We had such a great evening with these two. I always, ALWAYS feel that an engagement puts the planning and relationships into perspective. You take a moment for yourselves cuddle up for some cute photos while all fancied up! But the best thing about an engagement shoot is that WE get to see you two together. The goofy faces, the inside jokes; your personalities shine during engagement sessions and we soak it all up. We learn so much, and during Caitlin and Sean's session, we got to see how much Caitlin lights up around Sean. How much Sean loves making Caitlin laugh, and the enjoyment they get from being together. Their ability to be open with us allowed us to capture some incredibly sweet and silly moments.  After holding onto this session since December, I am so happy to show off more of these two...

Rewinding to the Fall for this Loch Raven Engagement

Leise & Chris

I have simultaneously been super excited to share Leise and Chris's engagement and also desperate to hold onto it. Their session at Loch Raven Reservoir was during the height of the Fall season. The sun was setting early, the leaves were changing, and the air was cool. We actually weren't too sure the weather would hold out, but luckily, the drizzling subsided just in time for the evening session. Now, this wasn't a normal engagement shoot. We also had the added bonus of a family session! Leise and Chris each have a daughter, and the greatest thing about things their girls? They get along just like sisters! I grew up in a similar way; I had a step-sister that at some point lost the "step" and just became my sister. We laugh, fight, and miss each other just like siblings and it's been a relationship I always hold close to me. GD, if you're reading this, I love ya!  This entire session was filled with laughter and joking. Kaylie, Chris's daughter, has an amazing sense of humor that had Leise, Chris, and Nev cracking up the whole time. There's a level of comfort with this blended family that sometimes takes a lifetime to achieve. Seeing these four together is a beautiful, wonderful thing. The whole session has made the wait for the wedding feel SO long! We cannot wait to be in the presence of these four again. Leise has given me some insight in what their day...

We Almost Brought Home an Irish Orphan

Ireland Adventures Part 2

The second half of our Ireland adventure is finally here! I meant to have this up sooner, but we moved recently, and it's been an adjustment period. We had boxes, furniture, computer wires all over! Thankfully, the apartment is starting to look a little more put together, which means I can finally get back to blogging. We didn't think much could top the amazingness that is Bunratty Castle, but we were oh so wrong. Thinking of it now, the first part of our trip was all purchased adventures. We had the Vintage Tea Tour, the portrait session with Claire, and - of course - Bunratty. Part two, though, is a lot of countryside and city events. Day 5 in Limerick We woke up in a foggy haze, literally. There was a fog washing over the city that was both spectacular and incredibly creepy. We figured we'd worry about that when it was time to leave. Until then, we needed breakfast! Heading to the hotel restaurant, we got to enjoy the full scale views that the Absolute Hotel offered, and we wished we could have stayed in the city just one more day. After a traditional meal of black pudding and tea, we decided that we would milk every last second out of our hotel suite.  Returning to our room, we lounged around in the robes, made a huge bubble bath, and turned on both TVs (rebels). I got sucked into Coronation Street, a British soap opera that's been on...

Top of the Mornin' to Yah!

Ireland Adventures Part 1

How is it possible that an entire month has passed since our trip to Ireland? It feels like yesterday that we were driving through the green country, eating delicious Irish food, and singing Christmas carols in a castle. The trip was really remarkable and - no lie -  we wish we were still there. The most unbelievable part of our journey? We did it all with 1 carry-on each.  Adjusting to life back home took time. Even though we were gone for 8 days, we acclimated to the laid back living really quick. Who would have thought that relaxing would be easy to get used to (/s). But, now that wedding season is over and the holidays are packed away, we're so excited to share about our trip! The places we saw, the things we did, and ALL the photos are finally here!  Day 1 in Dublin Our flight got into Dublin Airport at 5:00am. I don't know why we thought it would be a great idea to land so early. We grabbed our rental car and headed to the city center. Since our hotel didn't do check-ins until 3:00pm, we decided to find a parking garage to sleep in the car. Yup, our first activity in Ireland was sleeping in a garage for 4 hours. You'll notice that the greatest memories we made were from small things like that, haha! Once we woke up from our nap, we headed off to the Jameson Distillery for a tour...
